Sue Matthews
Susie is a Hatha trained yoga teacher and massage therapist in Thai yoga massage & Indian Head Massage. Susie is passionate about sharing her love of yoga through retreats, workshops and regular yoga classes. Her practice is rooted in classical Hatha yoga but recently has evolved to include somatic floor-based practices alongside the wisdom of Scaravelli yoga. Susie also has a deep love of yin & restorative yoga as a way to slow down & listen to our bodies and mind.
Susie initially trained with Green Yoga international in Spain and has continued to evolve her practice with further trainings. She is influenced by the therapeutic aspects of yoga for both mind and body, knowing that yoga enables individuals to calm their nervous system, embrace change and view the world in a different way. Prior to being a yoga teacher Susie worked as a paediatric nurse, health visitor and Psychology teacher – a varied career which has influenced her yoga teaching.
Her favourite AY moments, are when when her and the guests are out in nature, sharing stories and quiet moments, laughing, and of course the joyful moment of spontaneous yoga in random places.
What to expect on retreat with Susie:
On retreat, Susie encourages curiosity, providing the opportunity to explore the breadth and depth of yoga. For Susie a retreat is an opportunity to try different styles of yoga, to spend time exploring new poses and to find moments of stillness and peace. Susie is always supportive and encouraging of your own personal journey.
Her classes are suitable for all levels including complete beginners. Susie likes to combine pranayama, meditation and mindful movement in all her classes as a way to find strength and softness. Her classes also include yoga philosophy as a way to guide the practice, themes can include the elements, chakra’s and sutra’s so students experience a deeper understanding of yoga.

In addition to yoga, and where time allows, Susie is able to offer Indian Head massage, encouraging you to relax and treat yourself.
