Sustainability

We are working towards reducing our carbon footprint, and here are some ways we, as a company, are doing this.

We are a 88% vegan company, 10% vegetarian and 2% fish or meat (only when staying in boutique hotels that offer these options). This makes up a huge percentage of carbon emissions that we avoid so easily because our food is still delicious, balanced and even more creative. So, thanks to you all for enjoying our healthy (mostly) plant-based meals.

The difference: Most travel companies struggle to reduce their travellers’ meat and dairy consumption, which accounts for a large portion of their carbon emissions.

We stay primarily in one location for the duration of the retreat. We have started staying in a few locations on our long haul, but it is limited to 2 or 3 locations over an 8 – 10 night period. Staying in one place means low carbon emissions because we aren’t burning fuel to get around.

The difference: Other adventure travel companies move around every two days, using alot of petrol in vehicles for sometimes only 1 or 2 people.

Our activities are low-impact—yoga, hiking, surfing, skiing/boarding, whitewater rafting, SUP, and kayaking are all very low-carbon activities, in fact, zero-carbon (except skiing/snowboarding due to the ski lifts, which is also low). These activities are included in the price we measure. The carbon may increase with travel to and from these activities in vehicles.

The difference: Other travel companies can include high-carbon activities in the price, such as jet skiing, quad biking, and jeep driving, which increases their carbon footprint.

We run more than half of our retreats and holidays in the UK; these are very low-carbon holidays.

We currently don’t measure our guests’ travel as part of our carbon output because our guests don’t only come from the UK, so it is hard for us to predict this. We also don’t include travel in the holiday price, which is not part of our calculations. We know that we provide these holidays, so we are looking to include this carbon measurement in the future so we are investigating how we can reduce this.

The carbon measurements at the top of the page with the icons are per person for the whole retreat.

Ultra-low-carbon holidays

These holidays are below 200 kg per person, and our UK retreats are below 100 or even 70 kg, so these are great adventures for low carbon breaks.

Ski holidays are actually low in carbon!

In France, many ski resorts are turning to green energy to power the lifts. If you eat low in meat and dairy while you’re there and hire your ski equipment, this makes your trip as low-carbon as possible.

How can you help?

There are ways that you can help reduce your carbon when coming on our retreats and holidays:

Travel by train, try slow travel across Europe and the UK.
If travelling abroad to Europe or further afield, choose carbon capture schemes, check out Ecologi. Offsetting is not the best thing to do these days, but try carbon capture where you pay for carbon to be absorbed into the environment.
Car share UK – we recommend when guests travel by train to arrive and depart at the same time to taxi share – which helps keep costs and carbon emissions down. Why not consider car share, too? Most guests who drive come alone or with a friend; we have WhatsApp groups that, if you like, you can see who is driving from your area and enjoy getting to know each other on the way to the retreats, and save on your carbon emissions at the same time!

We are by no means saints when it comes to producing carbon, as a travel company we know this is very difficult to reduce. We are working to reduce our carbon output each year by measuring it and then creating plans to reduce it. We are reviewing all our venues and asking them how they can improve their carbon reduction as we don’t own any of our venues but we would like to work with them to help in any way we can. We want to be transparent with this, so please get in touch for more information. As we change things, we will update the website.

It is about 3 hours from London if you are driving. If you are travelling by train go to Chesterfield.
By car, we send out the address and directions after you have booked with us. The best way to arrive by train is to go to Chesterfield, although you can also go to Sheffield. We suggest arriving at the time we suggest in the 'getting there' section, and then you can arrange taxi shares with you fellow guests via the Whatsapp group that is set up approximately 2 weeks before the retreat.
Yes, we do. We provide yoga mats, blocks and blankets. If you like other yoga equipment for your practice please bring what you need.
The hikes at our retreat are approximately 4 hours long and cater to beginner-level hikers. However, it's important to note that some sections of the trails involve steep inclines and uneven terrain.
Yes - hiking boots (that aren't new) are a must and also wet and warm weather gear; waterproof trousers and jacket, a water bottle, hat, suncream, warm layers and smaller layers like a t-shirt so you can manage getting hotter as you go up and cooler as you go down. A water bottle and a backpack to put it all in.
Yes, there is
No, there isn't. There is one at the petrol station about 10 minutes drive away. Ask a member of our team to show you.
Check in on the day of arrival is 4pm, please note the team are still preparing the retreat before 4pm so if you arrive we ask that you let them get on with the preparations. Checkout on departure day is 10am, we ask that you are packed and ready to leave by 10am as there is a tight turnaround for the next guests.
Yes, there is, but it is patchy. The living area has good wifi and some of the bedrooms.
Yes, you can enhance your retreat experience with a massage from our skilled massage team. We recommend pre-booking your massage as our appointments fill up quickly. You can easily book your massage through your customer portal once you have booked your retreat with us.
Yes! Most of our guests travel solo, or with a friend or family member. It's a great way to meet like-minded people and find yoga travel buddies!
We cater for all ages and like to think we are really inclusive. Age ranges from 20 to 70! The age group is 25 - 55 years old…but ALL welcome!
There are a few to share and we recommend bringing one with you if you prefer.
Yes you can, we have a selection of single occupancy rooms with double beds and en-suite bathrooms. We also have twin rooms to share with two single beds.
This 3 night retreat in the Peak District has a full schedule because there are hikes included in the price on both of the full days. If you would like longer we advise staying for the 4 night mid-week retreats Monday - Friday as you have an extra day with nothing scheduled so you can enjoy another hike or explore another spot.

Beautiful Peak District

Escape to the breath taking beauty of the Peak District for a transformative yoga retreat. As England’s first National Park, established in 1951, the Peak District offers a rural gem in the heart of central England. With its expansive trails meandering through rolling hills and deep valleys, it’s a true haven for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts. We now run our retreats in two areas of the Peak District – Hope Valley & new for 2025 Carsington Water.

Hope Valley

We have been running our 3 & 4 night yoga retreats in Hope Valley for the past few years and it’s a truly beautiful area of the Peak District. Our venue has expansive views of the valleys and hikes straight from the door. Hope Valley boasts picturesque villages, such as Hathersage, which is rich in history and was visited by Charlotte Bronte to inspire her novel “Jane Eyre”. Only a two-hour train journey from Central London, the Peak District provides a convenient escape into nature’s embrace.

Carsington Water

New for 2025, are our 3 & 4 night yoga retreats in Carsington Water. This area of the Peak District combines rolling hills with a picturesque reservoir, making it an ideal choice for nature enthusiasts. The reservoir is only a short walk away and is full of wildlife, perfect for bird-watching. Our venue is on 10 acres of farmland and has it’s own lake and wide lawns making it a peaceful setting to escape to. Carsington Water is only a 1.5hr train journey from Central London, meaning you can absorb yourself in nature in no time.

On our retreats in Hope Valley & Carsington Water you can immerse yourself in the raw and wild feel of the Peak District, spanning over 550 square miles of diverse landscapes and habitats. From vast open spaces to charming villages nestled along wide rivers and streams, there are ample opportunities for wild swims or simply dipping your toes in the refreshing waters.

During our yoga retreat, you’ll have the freedom to tailor your experience to your preferences. Join our guided hikes to explore the picturesque surroundings, and afterward, indulge in relaxation amidst the retreat center’s stunning grounds, offering panoramic views that inspire tranquility.

For those seeking a slower pace, in both Hope Valley & Carsington Water there are plenty of areas to cosy up with a good book and a cup of tea, allowing yourself to unwind completely. As part of our commitment to your well-being, we’ve curated a collection of informative articles to complement your retreat experience.
