Victoria Herholdt
Born in Cape Town, Victoria was a childhood dancer, and from this stemmed a passion for rhythmic movement and creative expression. Completing her first Yoga Teacher Training in 2017 immediately led to a transformative career shift from workplace designer in London to a barefoot lifestyle in Sri Lanka, where she has lived, & worked in the yoga and movement field ever since.
Well travelled and adventurous, she had long admired Adventure Yogi’s unique blend of yoga and outdoor adventure. A serendipitous connection in 2024 led to a natural collaboration, where she has loved every retreat she’s hosted with AY ever since.
Alongside her yoga teaching, Victoria enjoys integrating stronger physical movement into her work. Trained in Contemporary Pilates and Barre, she offers challenging classes in these disciplines as well. The true reward comes as clients begin to notice the strength, confidence, and resilience that naturally develop through repetition and practice.
On a spiritual note, she firmly believes that everything in the universe is energy, and as a Reiki Master she works with subtle energetic practices to support balance, relaxation, and self-healing, complementing her movement practices.
What you can expect on a retreat with Vicky:
On retreat Victoria aims to offer a balanced experience of both effort and ease. Mornings are energising and dynamic, designed to awaken the body and set the tone for the day ahead. Evenings invite a gentle unwinding, with slower Yin-inspired practices and guided meditation, inviting both body and mind to soften, slow down, and simply be.
With a strong focus on safe alignment, Victoria’s teaching empowers students to build a balanced, mindful practice, all while keeping the experience light, playful, and enjoyable.
The words she lives by: “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul” ~ William Ernest Henley. You can’t always control what happens to you, but you can choose your reaction to it, and how you navigate your direction in life.
Her favourite AY retreats:
Sri Lanka – This goes without saying! It’s the place she calls ‘home’ so she loves giving guests a little glimpse into her island life. The retreat venue is exceptional, and just a short tuk-tuk ride away you’ll find beautiful beaches and lively coastal towns – part of what makes Sri Lanka one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
Norfolk – Victoria feels this is the perfect weekend escape for anyone with a demanding career. With slightly longer yoga sessions but less in the way of planned activities, you’re free to do as little or as much as you desire and the beautiful venue offers the perfect space to unwind- be that going for a pool swim, a dip in the lake, or to sit under one of the many enormous trees to read a book.
Montenegro – She hasn’t hosted this one yet but Montenegro has been on Victoria’s travel bucket list for a while so she’s thrilled to be hosting 3 retreats there this summer. The remote setting surrounded by unspoiled nature and experiencing some of their culture are what she’s looking forward to the most – and of course giving guests the best possible yoga experience!
