BookYogaRetreats bankruptcy: what it means if you had a booking

Updated 14 Oct 2026

If you’ve booked a retreat through BookYogaRetreats, or it’s where you usually browse, you may have seen some news about the company behind it. Tripaneer, which runs the site, went into bankruptcy at the end of September 2026. We know this news can be unsettling, especially when you’ve got a trip you’re looking forward to, but for now, the site itself is still up and running, so there’s time to take a breath and find out what it means for you.

What’s happened?

BookYogaRetreats is run by Tripaneer B.V., a travel company based in Amsterdam, and on 30 September 2026, the District Court of Amsterdam declared the company bankrupt. In the Netherlands, the court then appoints a curator, whose job is to look after the company’s affairs and decide what happens next.

Tripaneer also runs a handful of sister sites, so if you’ve used any of these, the news applies to them as well:

  • BookYogaTeacherTraining
  • BookSurfCamps
  • BookAllSafaris
  • BookHorseRidingHolidays

We don’t yet know why the company went into bankruptcy. We are waiting on the curator’s report to know more, but, for now the site is still running and showing retreats.

Is BookYogaRetreats still running?

Yes, for now. When we checked on 14 October 2026, the site was live and still showing retreats, which we know can feel a little confusing given the news; but when a Dutch company goes bankrupt, the curator takes over the running of the business and can keep it going while they decide what happens next – which may include looking for a buyer.

Fundamentally, this may not be the end of Book Yoga Retreats! However, if you’ve had your eye on something new there, it’s something to bear in mind until the picture is a little clearer.

What does it mean for my booking?

If your retreat has already happened, there’s nothing you need to do.

If your retreat is still to come, your retreat host will have the most up-to-date picture. They can tell you from their end if it’s going ahead as planned and whether anything has changed on their side.

To understand what the bankruptcy means for your money, it helps to know how payments worked on BookYogaRetreats. When you book, you usually paid a deposit online, and the rest went directly to your host. Tripaneer would then pass that deposit on to your host, minus its commission, shortly after you arrived on retreat. That means:

  • Your host may not have received your deposit yet, as it’s most likely still held by Tripaneer, which is now in the curator’s hands.
  • Tripaneer’s commission came out of the deposit, so anything you pay directly to your host goes straight to them rather than through Tripaneer.

A few things that might help

If you are booked for a retreat through BookYogaRetreats that has yet to come up, there is no need to panic! Here are some things we would do in your shoes:

  1. Stay in touch with your host. They’ll have the latest on whether your retreat is going ahead and whether anything has changed.
  2. Keep your booking details handy. It can be useful to have your confirmation and any emails about your trip in one place, just in case.
  3. Know what your travel insurance covers. It’s always reassuring to know what your policy includes, and it’s one less thing to wonder about if plans change.

These won’t answer every question just yet, but they’re a great way to feel a little more prepared.

Is BookRetreats.com affected?

No, BookRetreats.com is a completely separate company. It has no connection to Tripaneer or BookYogaRetreats, and it’s still running as normal. The names are very similar, so it’s an easy mix-up to make, and you’re certainly not the only one to wonder.

Used to find us on BookYogaRetreats?

We understand how this has affected guests and businesses alike. Some of our own retreats were listed on BookYogaRetreats. If you have found us again here, thank you, and welcome! You can still book any Adventure Yogi retreat directly on our website, with the same retreats, experience, and team looking after you.

If you’d like a hand finding what you need, or just want to talk something through, get in touch and we’ll usually reply within 2 to 24 hours on working days.

How we look after your booking

This news may have got you wondering, “how is my money taken care of?”, which is completely understandable. When you book a retreat, you want to feel sure it’s in good hands. Travel always comes with a few things nobody can fully control, but at Adventure Yogi, we have some guardrails in place to give you peace of mind.

  • Book with Confidence. This covers flights cancelled as a direct result of fuel supply disruption. As long as you’ve made reasonable attempts to rebook or reroute with your airline, you can move to another Adventure Yogi retreat of equal value. If you’d prefer, you can take the full booking value as an Adventure Yogi gift card instead, valid for 12 months.
  • Flexi-Booking. If you’d like a little extra flexibility, you can add Flexi-Booking for £147 per person when you book. It lets you make a one-time transfer to another Adventure Yogi retreat, subject to availability. Just let us know in writing at least 8 weeks before your retreat starts.
  • Spreading the cost. You can pay with Klarna or our own instalment plan at checkout, so you don’t need to pay for everything in one go.
  • Travel insurance. We always recommend taking out travel insurance as soon as you book, because some things sit outside anyone’s control. You’ll find all the details in our booking terms.
