Zennor Edwards
Zennor creates a space whilst on retreat that feels encouraging and safe. Whether it is a guest’s first retreat or someone who has been returning time after time, Zennor takes time to build connection with each guest so that they can feel encouraged to try new things or come back to real moments of stillness and reflection during retreat. Her personality is warm, approachable, supportive and she will make sure that guests feel able to get what they need out of their trip, whether that be challenging themselves or taking it slow and easy.
Zennor started out on a movement journey at just 4 years old when she started ballet. Like a lot of young girls, she fell in love with it and it became her whole life as a child and young adult. When she was 16 she moved to London to pursue a professional dance but at 19 returned to Cornwall, she was a bit worn down from the industry, the constant judgement of the way her body looked. It took about 3 years for her to find movement again, but when she found yoga at the age of 22 she felt suddenly at ease and at home with her body, the feeling of honesty and reality that yoga presented. In 2023 Zennor trained as a yoga teacher in London in Hot Yoga, Vinyasa and Hatha. Since then she has gone on to train in Pilates and teaches a lot of Reformer also.
Zennor is passionate about making yoga and movement feel accessible to everyone and knows that not every ‘style’ of yoga will be for everyone. Zennor incorporates pranayama, meditation, breathwork and movement into all of her classes so that hopefully there is something in there that everyone will be able to connect to and enjoy. Her flows are balanced to make sure that students leave feeling restored, balanced and inspired to practice again.
Due to Zennor’s classical ballet background she has a strong emphasis on alignment and functional mobility so that we can keep using our bodies for as long as possible as we start to get older. Her personal practice however is very seated in meditation, breathwork and stillness (which does not come naturally to her!) so as well as movement with an alignment focus there are lots of moments to pause, reflect and reconnect. Her own practice continues to inspire her to keep teaching and sharing these practices with others as they have helped her, and continue to help her so much throughout her life.
In addition to teaching group yoga classes, Zennor offers 1:1 workshops so guests can work on specific things. It may be an alignment 1:1 so that a guest can understand deeper about their own body in certain postures or it might be a very restorative 1:1 session that offers deep rest, head massage and slow movement and meditation.
Zennor’s favourite AY retreat is Cornwall, as the yoga space is so beautiful and she always enjoys showing people her favourite things about living in this amazing part of the UK.
