Maria’s life has always revolved around food – from her very first memories of growing up in rural Sweden collecting wild strawberries and making gingerbread, to feeding family and friends in Brighton, where she now lives.
She has cooked for events, parties and in commercial kitchens for over 20 years and loves feeding people delicious dishes full of exciting, global flavours. Her food is always colourful, tasty and sustaining and she takes her inspiration from great, simple ingredients, whether from near or far.
Maria loves how food creates understanding and connection across cultures, generations and backgrounds, creating a space of belonging for everyone around the table. This belief in good food to bring people together, coupled with a keen interest in vegetarian cooking, fermenting and foraging, means that for Maria, retreat cooking is the perfect vehicle to express her creativity in the kitchen.
