The Lake District is a much more intermediate hiking area and so we suggest the hiking level being of intermediate level and good level of fitness.
Yes - hiking boots (that aren't new) are a must and also wet wand warm weather gear; waterproof trousers and jacket, a water bottle, hat, suncream, warm layers and smaller layers like a t-shirt so you can manage getting hotter as you go up and cooler as you go down. A backpack to put it all in.
You can come by train to Lake Windermere train station - 4 hours from London and then a taxi which is about 20 minutes from the venue.
